
Taipei 101 is a 101-floor landmark skyscraper located in Taipei, Taiwan. Its post modern style combines tradition and modernity in ways that appear simultaneously Asian and international. Its safety features enable it to typhoon and earthquakes. It is made of concrete, sandstone, marble and glass. Taipei 101 is owned by the Taipei Financial Center Corporation. A multi-level shopping mall combining the tower houses hundreds of fashionable stores, restaurants and clubs. The building, designed by C.Y. Lee & Partners and constructed by the South Korean multinational Samsung Engineering & Construction and supported by the KTRT Joint Venture, is one of the world's tallest completed skyscrapers. The Taipei 101 Tower was built between 1999 and 2004. It is 509.2 metres high and has 101 storeys above ground and five underground. It is the tallest building in the world displaced the Petronas Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On July 7 2007 Burj Dubai overtook Taipei 101 in height.
