Petronas Twin Tower

First Blog Assignment

The Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was the worlds tallest building, before being surpassed by the Taipei 101. Tower 2 was built by the South Korean Multinational Samsung Engineering & Construction and Tower 1 by Hazama Corporation of Japan. They were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004.The Petronas Twin Towers was designed by Argentine-American architect, Cesar Pelli. The 88-floor towers are made of concrete, with a steel and glass. It is built in an Islamic art, a reflection of Malaysia's Muslim religion.

Below the twin towers is Suria KLCC, a popular shopping mall, and Petronas Philharmonic’s Hall, the home of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. The towers feature a skybridge (constructed by Kukdong Engineering & Construction) between the two towers on 41st and 42nd floors. The bridge is 170m above the ground and 58 m long, weighing 750 tons. The skybridge is open to all visitors.

Roman Colosseum


The Colosseum, (the Flavian Amphitheatre) is one of Rome's most famous buildings and enduring monuments to the culture of the ancient Romans. These building was built by the Emperor Vespasian around 72 AD. His son Titus reigned over its completion and the official opening ceremonies, about 8 years later, in 80 AD. The Colosseum is situated near the site of Nero's Domus Aurea "Golden House". It got its popular name, the Colosseum, because of Nero's colossus statue of himself.

The huge theater was built encompassing four floors. The first three had arched entrances, while the fourth floor had a rectangular doorways. The interior was divided into three parts: the arena, the podium, and the cavea. The arena measured 79 x 45 meters (237-135 feet), and consisted of wood and sand. The Colosseum is huge, 188m long and 156 wide. The Colosseum had a total spectator capacity of 45,000-55,000. The total amount of marble needed for the construction measured approximately 100,000 cubic meters. The audience climbed to their seats, according to gender and social class.

BURJ AL-ARAB (TOWER OF THE ARABS)



The Burj Al-Arab is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Burj Al-Arab was built by Said Khalil, Tom Wright and Rick Gregory. It was built between 1994-1999 and 321 metres high. It is the world's tallest hotel and the first "7-star" hotel.It is stands on an artificial island 280 metres out from Jumeirah beach, and connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is an iconic structure, designed to symbolize Dubai’s urban transformation and to mimic the sail of a boat. It was built to resemble the sail of a dhow, a type of Arabian vessel. The hotel rests on an artificial island constructed 280 meters offshore. It is made of 230 40-meter long concrete piles, 70,000 cubic meters of concrete, 9,000 tons of steel,8,000 square meters of 22-carat gold leaf and 24,000 square meters of 30 different types of marble. Inside the building, the atrium is 180 meters (590 ft) tall and the base of the atrium with water fountain. It features the tallest atriums lobbies in the world, at 180 meters (590 ft) and the world's tallest structure with a membrane facade. The exterior is expressed in terms of ultra-modern sculptural design, and the interior guest space is a compilation of lavish and luxurious architectural styles from both the east and the west.This hotel have three restaurants, 28 double-story floors which accommodate 202 bedroom suites and corridors between guest rooms. At the top of the building is helicopter landing pad supported by a cantilever. It height is 211 meters. It is one of the most expensive hotels in the world.

Last weekend, I went to my friend's home in Ipoh, Perak. Her sister was engaged. It is too busy at her home. The people were co-operate to do their work. This ceremony so hilarious. Many people were came to this ceremony.

SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE

The Sydney Opera House is located in
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site on June 28, 2007. Based on the competition winning entry by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, the Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most distinctive 20th century buildings, and one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world. It is situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The building and its surroundings are one of the best known icons of Australia. As well as many touring theatre, ballet, and musical productions, the Opera House is the home of Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony. It is administered by the Opera House Trust, under the New South Wales Ministry of the Arts. The Sydney Opera House is an expressionist modern design, with a series of large precast concrete 'shells', each taken from a hemisphere of the same radius, forming the roofs of the structure. The Opera House covers 1.8 hectares (4.5 acres) of land. It is 183 metres (605 feet) long and about 120 metres (388 feet) wide at its widest point. It is supported on 588 concrete piers sunk up to 25 metres below sea level. Its power supply is equivalent for a town of 25,000 people. The power is distributed by 645 kilometres of electrical cable.

The blue mosque (sultanahmet camii )

The blue mosque is one of the most beautiful building in Istanbul. It was founded by Sultan Ahmet I. He ordered Archited Mehmed Aga to begin construction in 1609 and it's completed in 1616. It is just oppesite the splendid church of Hagia Sophia. There are beautiful marble steps right in the middle of the courtyard, leading to the main courtyard. There is a fountain in the middle which is used as decorative purpose. There is a portal on the left hand side which is entrance for the local people.

This is taipei 101 building in taiwan.this building is tallest building in the world,it height with 508m,1667ft,and done in year 2004.designed by c.y.lee @ partners.It is multiuse steel @ glass,skyscraper enchoes a traditional chinese pagoda with its soaring podium ase,8 tiers of 8 stories.

gathering with my best friends

i came kl study almost 1 years already.Until last week just got chance to meet my best friends tht is bao juan,sheh hoon,yann zhuang,lian jian,li tat,qing wei and ah bit.i feel very happy can meet u all at mid valleg.when i saw u all feel very happy and got many things want to chat with u all......but that day i can't too late go back ukm so we just chat around 3 hour only.hope next time we can jio togather go out shopping.

very happy!because holiday already....but i want continuos my 3rd semester.i feel some boring,because all of my friends just go back hometown already.
altouhgt i can't go back hometown to enjoy my holiday,but use this holiday time to enchance my english.Today is my 1st day go to the class, i have some scare because whole of the class just got 1 chinese student that is..... me.ha ha!!but after class,i didn't scare le!because the lecturer is very nice.so....i will finish my holiday accompany foundation english class.i think this can help me improve my english.
